Normal Chest Axial Anatomy - plain and labeled sections
Просмотров 7 тыс.10 лет назад
Multiple labeled and unlabeled sections from gross anatomy, showing the major structures of the chest, heart, and mediastinum. Use the video controls to [Pause] and [Play] to study the sections.
Normal Chest Cadaver Axial Sections
Просмотров 2,3 тыс.10 лет назад
This normal anatomic cadaver was sectioned horizontally (axial) from sternum to diaphragm. Each section is presented without and then with labels, for two seconds each. The video may be paused to read the labels. Scrolling through this "image stack" may help you understand the anatomy of chest and mediastinum.
Chest Radiology - Part 1, the Basics of the mediastinum & central structures
Просмотров 7 тыс.10 лет назад
The complex anatomy of the mediastinum can be reduced to four simple structures: trachea; esophagus; azygous vein and arch; and, the ascending, arch, and descending aorta
Normal Chest CT with labels
Просмотров 131 тыс.10 лет назад
Normal chest CT, non-contrast, in a young woman. Scrolling through the soft-tissue window series - then the lung-window series. Selective structures are labeled: Aorta, cardiac chambers (left and right atrium, right ventricle), esophagus, IVC (inferior vena cava), liver, pancrease, SVC (superior vena cava), spleen, thyroid gland.
Left Anterior Oblique or LAO Position
Просмотров 16 тыс.10 лет назад
The Left Anterior Oblique or LAO is obtained with the patients LEFT chest wall against the sensor or film cassette. This view is often used in angiography to better visualize the arch of the aorta, and its major branches to the head and upper extremities (arms). Easy to remember: LAO - "Lay Aorta Open" (so you can look into the arch).
Right Anterior Oblique or RAO Position -
Просмотров 45 тыс.10 лет назад
The Right Anterior Oblique Position or "RAO" is often used during an Upper Gastrointenstinal Flouroscopy study (UGI or "barium swallow") to better visualize the esophagus. In this position, the esophagus may be visualized without overlap from the cardiac shadow.
Autoregulation of Cerebral Blood
Просмотров 58 тыс.10 лет назад
The brain maintains relatively constant cerebral perfusion over a wide range of blood pressure, through a mechanism of local control called "autoregulation". The mechanism is through a sphincter-like vasoconstriction or dilatation of the pre-capillary arteriole feeding the capillary bed. This mechanism increases perfusion (rCBF) in response to falling pH and/or rising pCO2.
Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Syndromes: MEN1 (revised)

MEN Syndromes Part 1:What are They?
Просмотров 3,7 тыс.10 лет назад
Multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN) syndromes are inherited disorders - most are autosomal dominant and/or germline mutations. The most common and best understood are MEN1 (Wermer), MEN2A (Sipple), MEN2B (Sipple plus), and Familial Medullary Thyroid Cancer (FMTC). This short introduction provides a brief description and a mnemonic to help remember. Download the handout: rad.usuhs.edu/rad/handout...
Dangers of Carbon Monoxide: MedPix COW No. 699
Просмотров 5 тыс.10 лет назад
Multiple bilateral symmetric gray-matter lesions should always suggest a toxic or metabolic encephalopathy. Carbon monoxide (CO) intoxication may mimic the flu or drunkenness. CO selectively damages the medial lenticular nucleus of the basal ganglia of the brain. It may also affect the cerebellum and the hippocampus. Rapid diagnosis and treatment is successful for most patients. The most import...

Omg … is this for real ? In 1998 age 39, I had a carotid dissection … now open .. I do CrossFit .. lots of sit-ups .. I guess I’m too old now … no longer fit the profile … male age 39-45 if I remember correctly .. This takes me back .. carotid dissection, diagnosed as a migraine, shot of immitrex .. immediately stroked out .. coma for 3 days, couldn’t speak or spell. Had to do a tour of Asia pacific , pt/INR tests in Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia … always remember the Singapore doctor surprised at 7.5mg of Coumadin “enough to kill a horse” … but here I am 25 years later.

I have a sphenoid mass, but I’ve had two ct scans and they both say different things. One says mucocele and that was found on ct plus mri. The second one years later says sphenoid retention cyst. So now I am confused :(. I saw an ent and he said watch and wait but lately I’ve been having horrible ear pain, cheek pain and constant bloody noses all on the left side which is where it is. How do I get a doctor to take this serious? I’m so tired of the pain and it makes me not want to live. They just keep giving me antibiotics and I’ll be ok for a bit then the pain comes right back.

@@navie3644 Well I have Chronic Sinusitis. My ENT doesn’t think it’s bad enough to where I would have to have surgery. WHICH IS GREAT! But after him thoroughly reviewing my CT Scan results, he believes all or at least most of the inflammation is due to allergies. So, I’ve been referred to an allergist for allergy testing & we’ll just go from there. Really hoping that allergies is the culprit & I can work on treating that for relief 🙏🏽

In 1991, I was diagnosed with a pineal dermoid cyst. My Neurosurgeon first inserted a VP Shunt. This stopped the blinding headaches, I was living with for years. He then performed a Craniotomy, which was unsuccessful. Now, almost 32 years later, I am still alive and the pineal tumour is still present. I can really count myself lucky to still be alive, after so many years, since it was discovered initially.

as a innate cyst, i has this collid cyst syptomps from early childhood aroun 10 years old. I developed tinitus in that age, always had sleeping problems, telling my parents " i have a fly in my brain, there is so much noise in my brain." I came to age of 30 with this colloid cyst even without knowing it. On 23th December 2019, i was hit by a car while crossing the roads which resulted in my skull fracture (epidural hematoma) After 8 months of my accident, i had brain MRI written that i had 7mm colloid cyst in the 3rd ventricle. My colloid cyst has become symptomatic after this accident. I am feeling that there is someting on my left side of brain ready to explode, so much pressure. I had unvolutary chin movements because of left side of pressure. When i put my head to pillow at nights, pressure increases.
